White and White.....

From the handful of seeds that I harvested from my zinnia patch the last two years I have received two different white flowers.

Thursday's Geranium.......

My fancy leafed hardy geranium finally put out some new blooms. The plant is timid having small in number of blooms but at least it is blooming.

One Red Leaf........

My poinsettia has done well out under the shade tree.  It is in the plastic planter shaped like a swan and I think the plastic has been good to keep it from drying out.  For some reason I have one reddish leaf that has formed on the under side of all of the foilage.

Mechanical Visual............

I need to mow but I don't know when I will be scheduling that into my life. The new, used mower works well and I will have to lower the blade to get a shorter cut this time.

Remembering Maine.......

The Atlantic shoreline off of Acadia National Park.  This is an archived photo that reminds me of great memories of our visit to Maine two years ago.

Promises of Blooms..........

The sedum and phlox will welcome the rain that will be falling today.  I should be able to post the flowers in the future. We will have cooler temperatures today with the high of 80 degrees.

Purple for Friday.......

We have  cooler temperatures at night and the planters are starting to revive with heavy watering and the less hours in severe heat.   Our days have been cooler but the past two days were hot again. It has been such a yo yo of a summer.

Junky Corner.......

It is a strange mess that sits at the corner of my garden shed. Who knows where it came from and who knows what I am going to do with it.  Some things there look like they are leftovers from construction work.  If I had a big enough hole I guess I could bury it. The dried up  gourd can be tossed in the garbage.

Late Bloomers.........

With a few light rains the white hollyhock put out some new blooms at the base of the plant.  It had bloomed very early in June and I was surprised to be seeing new blooms.

A Howling Good Time........

Our dog Barney gets the neighbor dogs in trouble.  He goes out and barks at the variety of dogs next door and they all get to howling at the same time.  This is a sample of the many dogs that they have.  Jake is the black dog and Lillian is the white and brown Terrier. The neighbors sometimes then call them all back inside because they are making too much noise.

The two little chiwawa dogs are a part of the team of four dogs of the same breed.  The little ones were not all out at the same time. I think six is the total number of dogs that live over there.

Pontiac........

Hood Ornament

While I was across the street taking shots of the cornfields I quickly snapped some shots of the old Pontiac.  It sits over there in the farm field awaiting for someone to restore it.  I previously posted  about this car a few years ago but I think I will revisit it again with new photos.

Snapping To,,,,,,,,,,,,

Snapdragons

I am back from a two day blogging gap.  I just was not up and at it to get any blogging done.  Sometimes life gets to be too much of what it is and I just couldn't get my mojo goinig to get the job done.

It is Saturday and I may venture out into the outside and snap a few new pictures. We look like we might get rain but I am not holding my breath on that idea.

Flower Pot Special......

The container isn't billowing full of petunias but this is a nice close view of one that is blooming on our cool Sunday afternoon with 70 degrees F.

Sunday's Visitor..........

I have not seen but a handful of butterflies this year.  I hope that we can get enough vegetation going again to bring in the monarch butterfly migration.  This zinnia patch is the only thing blooming that will draw any insects.

Leaf Patterns......

Another view of my geranium with the great looking leaves.  The flowers are regrouping right now and they will be blooming again in a couple of weeks.

Weathered White.........

This is a descendent of my white zinnia's from two years ago.  I save seed from year to year.  I planted a packet of Martha Stewart seeds back then.  They were a short white variety and this offspring is now a taller one.  I have talked the drought too much but I am grateful for any bloom I can eek out of any plant at this time.

Off the Wall or On the Fence......

I was carrying this little tomato around with me as I was taking photos.  I set it on the ledge so I could open the gate and thought it might be a great set up.  I think I have been looking at too many Modern Photography magazines.

Patiently Waiting.......

Our neighbor's tomcat we call Tom Tom watches me as I am out shooting pictures for the blog.  He really is almost snoozing.  He is in position ready for the door to open and he can receive a free hand out again. They have so many cats next door that we are glad to help out with the feeding of a few of them.

I have posted Tom Tom before when he was stretched out on my steps of my garden shed.  He was again just resting.  To his credit, he really would prefer being petted over being fed.  He is a sweet guy.

Surprise Lilies........

These are also known as naked ladies.  The bulbs put up a foliage in spring and then after the foliage has died down it shoots up stalks and buds.  I normally have over a dozen stalks but with the drought I was lucky to have one single stalk.  Maybe the rest will pop up the next few days.

Rock, Tomato, Rock........

I picked my first tomato.  It is not big. I don't think any of them on the vines will be larger than a tennis ball.  I am just grateful that they are now starting to ripen.  I may water twice a day to see if I can get them to grow bigger.   Probably not!!!!!

The Summer in Iowa, 2012

The midwest is on the same journey as it was in the summer of 1936.  Evidence of it is seen in all the vegetation of the area.  It will probably go down in the weather history books as an equal of the one 76 years ago  even if it does rain.

It may rain on Saturday..............

Remember When...........

It wasn't a tough winter but I found one of our snow scenes from the past winter.  I was looking for a photo to share today from all my photo files and this seemed a great one to put on my post.   I worked two extra long days the past two days and I just haven't any new photos to share.

Blurry Blue Cup Day.....

It is Monday and I am a little blurry eyed today. It is fitting then my blue cup is blurred a little because it is in low light. I was too ...
