A new purchase of old......

Yep I know, a grown old man buying ceramic cats.  Oh well, it fits the theme of all the other ceramic pieces that I have collecting dust.

I know someone out there knows what the mark means.  The mall has this wonderful antique store that is so clean that you want to reward them for running a high class place. It has lots of old and a lot 5o's things too.
Thanks for stopping in.........

We thoroughly enjoy browsing through antique stores. I love this cat. I hope someone out there will recognize the mark and tell you more about your purchase.

I looked on ebay at cat figurines hoping to see a similar pottery mark. No luck, but I'll let you know if I see anything similar.

I collected cats for years, I had hundreds of them! When we moved to a smaller house, I sold many of them because I just didn't have the space. I'll check my reference book for the mark.
Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day Sunday.
Sunny :)

Nothing wrong with that cat. Actually it has quite a cute look in its eyes.

It looks like a Japanese sunrise symbol. Not sure but that is how it looks. Thanks for the visit to my Japanese blog. I left a comment there in response to your commenting about building things...

"√ Reply to L. C. Burgus...
Yes, things were being rebuilt. They were planting trees then. And they were building bridges to take place of bombed out ones. But when I got there in 1953, after the war, most of the homes people lived in had been rebuilt and looked pretty much the same while I was there. There was not large buildings being built. They did build the observatory."

It's a very nice cat and there's nothing wrong with a grown man buying it. I looked through my Collectors book but couldn't find that particular mark.

I love browsing antique stores, yards sales and other places where odd items collect. This is the closest I could find to the mark on your ceramic cat: http://marksfinder.com/factories-and-potters/Alberti-Carl-Uhlstadt-Germany/

Crowded.....

The tulip was up first but the peony is now spreading out and shoving the tulip around a bit.
