Snake in the bush.........
I had never known that garter snakes like to climb up into vegetation. I have been noticing the past few years that they will climb into my old fashioned rose bushes and also in my spirea bushes. This guy was lounging among my black eyed Susan's. I was looking for butterflies and seeing a hibiscus that budded but this was a special time for me to snap this guy. He of course was a little annoyed and slithered off down to the ground after his photo shoot.

Lonely Bloom…
The one last tulip to bloom is this on Rembrandt variety. Why this one was planted in another location it is hard to say.

Teddy's legs are a little short for this big wheel but he still likes sitting on it. These shots were buried in my files and this one...

Iowa wild rose is the state flower. I keep finding evidence of our hard freeze on different plants as they mature. The freeze messed up...

Amazing that you captured such a great photo!
How nice of him to pose like that for you; it makes for a beautiful photo.
Great photo. I love the colors!
Love your new balloon header photo...and as for the snake??? YIKES!!
Great shot, Larry !
On last monday my Chéri killed a viper in the greenhouse.A few year ago he killed a viper asp.
I only ever encountered one snake and was amazed by the smoothness of the skin.
Velvety. Do you get many garter snakes in your garden?
These garter snakes are pretty harmless. I have to struggle to keep the population down. I don't like to kill things but I can send them to the landfill. So a dog pooper scooper works well at catching them and putting them in the bin. I don't like to mow into them but I have so many and they reproduce so many little ones that I can hit one with a mower and not feel to badly.
Harmless maybe but still - eeeugh.
You are my hero..a snake killer..uffda I hate ssnakes..I saw one in the Raspberry bushes once, I nearly wet my pants...I did cry. They have them at the middle school in a cage, I am always worried that they are going to let them out, I suggested a the snake is In or Out of his cage sign at the front door..they looked at me like I was nuts:(
What a great shot, he blends right in with the flowers. But, personally, I am not a snake lover. Better you then me! hee, hee!
P.S. I like that new header also. Very colorful.
