The sunlight makes the shrub look very red. This is one of my favorites because of the color of the bark.

I love the bark on this tree, Larry. You have shared a great photo. I just found out the two trees in our "new" front yard are red flame maples. I look forward to watching them grow and change through the seasons.
Oh that is just beautiful!
I once had a red dogwood in a corner by a dull shed, it really lifted the scene in winter.
