I had a For Sale sign that was covered up with buds from the peony bush. I trimmed them back and brought them home. Once they hit the water in the vase they started opening.

Mine are getting close to blooming but it will be next week yet. I live near Ames and we are in a completely different growing zone that the Des Moines area.
And, of course, southern Iowa is even more ahead than Des Moines.
Great images. I like the iris with the water on it.
This first week of my photography class we talked quite a bit about depth of field. The iris image certainly illustrates that nicely.
