Have a view of my daily photos or photos from my past. We all need to document the world around us visually. What I see is mostly what you get.

A Forest Floor......
I don't rake out this area around the tree. The years of debris from sticks and leaves give it a natural forest area. The plants that are in the garden area all pop up through the leaves with bishops weed, tulips, a couple of peonies, iris and forsythia. I do pick up the large pieces during the year like the log that is laying in the back, otherwise it is a natural spot in the yard.

I like this area of your yard. I hope to be able one day to plant some bulbs in our natural areas.
I imagine all those leaves etc provide fertiliser the plants. Hmmm, good idea!
I admire people who have the neat mulched areas and curbing but my old house doesn't cry out for a modern landscape. It tends to want to be left pretty natural.
