He has his ever watchful eyes open as he protects the area in which he is standing. I leave him at the top of the stairs in a corner for a while before he goes to the storeroom. He looks like he is guarding the second floor of the house. He is a big nutcracker character who has either a Russian hat or a British soldier's hat.

Cute photo. My cats would probably be afraid of him!!!
I recently bought a pair of new walking shoes, and the cat's all stopped in their tracks and arched their backs at my shoes!!! They notice everything new.
I think it's wonderful that you have such a handsome guard in your home.
