It is nice to see a few small buds that are struggling to get out before the frost. There are still about a dozen buds on the plants. I didn't notice until I looked closer to see that petals still haven't completely unrolled.

Iowa wild rose is the state flower. I keep finding evidence of our hard freeze on different plants as they mature. The freeze messed up...

I like the second picture and like your title for this post. Those flowers are brave enough to keep trying before the fall hits home.
