The shiny bells are a modern version of the old brass bells on horse's harness. The bells here are nice bells though and do have a great sound when shaken.

Iowa wild rose is the state flower. I keep finding evidence of our hard freeze on different plants as they mature. The freeze messed up...

We used to have a set of old horse bells, and my mom and dad told stories of how they'd jingle when they rode the cutter in the winter.
