The glow of the setting sun cause the colors to blend onto the hummingbird's head. They are so competitive with each other that their feeding seems always frenzied. I have seen two of them on opposite sides of the feeder but have yet to get a photo. I guess if you can't see the enemy you don't have to fight with them.
