Checking His Mail....

I shared this photo on my facebook page today.  It is more than just a boy checking his mail.  He is sitting in a worship area created by Jewish people on Masada.  It is the area where the Jewish people and their king built a last ditch survivor spot in Israel. The enemy was trying to kill or capture every Jewish person in the country and this group was holding out on top of the Masada mountain. The mountain was eventually captured by the Romans by thrie building up a ramp at the back of the area until they could get inside the cluster.  The Jews chose to take their own lives than to be captured by them and forced into slavery or be killed. When they were finally able to invade this area all the people were dead.

The visual you can see here is the boy is sitting in the area built 3,000 years ago on a very high mountain overlooking the valleys of Israel.  The boy is our pastor's son, Andrew, who traveled with us on the 10 day tour. It was nice to have him along, The photo was taken in late October.

This is a wonderful photo and story about Masada. Cameron talks about the rise of antisemitism and violence toward Jews in Brooklyn that we don't always hear about. Very sad.

That's a sad note of info on Jewish.

How wonderful, Larry, to go to Masada, and, I imagine, other sites. A number of family members have also been (David, my husband is an archaeologist and gave one or two of the talks for a group of Anglican Ordinands some years ago when they were in Jerusalem and out and about). I agree with Karen and Jeevan that the historical detail you narrate is very tragic indeed. Pray, we are told, for the peace of Jersualem...

P.S. Thank you for your kind comment on my spring flowers... We haven't had any snow this winter yet, but we have had a lot of very grey days. Some folk here in the UK have experienced flooding and damage from high winds.
