Some birds, sparrows, are better than no birds. The new cardinal feede interests the sparrows because they do like safflower seeds. I don't think they will eat sunflower seeds but maybe they would if they were hungry enough. My cockatiels will eat all the good stuff first and when everything is gone then they will eat sunflowers. It may be the same case for sparrows. No cardinals have shown up at the cardinal feeder.
