By accident I have a modern glass bowl in the background. I think we bought it at a grocery store and it was sold in the fresh fruit aisle.
This is an old glass bowl of my mom's pieces. It is fancy because it sits on a pedestal. It is the starburst pattern I believe and I have other pieces with this pattern on it. It was actually cheap to make but farm wives didn't have a lot of fancy things so these were really special. I remember a lot of different foods that my mom served in this for family pot lucks. I remember the sweet marshmallow deserts that were full of whipped cream and it was so fluffy. I do remember it being filled with potato salad. I think it to be sad that the next generations really have no understanding or admiration of the history of these pieces. We have bought one old pieces that matched our fruit dishes, at a garage sale. I guess they thought they needed to get rid of their junk.
I added a shot of this piece that I took in my photo light box. It gives me better light than the kitchen light lighting of the other photo.
