True Big Red......

I had a guest at my feeder yesterday.  I just happened to see him arrive.  He was just being nice to show up for me to take a picture as he has not returned again.

The safflower seeds are the draw as he sat and ate for quit some time.  With sun flower seeds the cardinals take one and leave to sit in a tree to eat.  It takes a lot more work to feed on sun flower seeds.

Thank you, Larry, for your recent comment. What a remarkable bird to have on your feeder! When I was in Philadelphia and NYC for ten days in 2012, I so hoped we might see one of these glorious birds. I saw hawks with red tails on the edge of Central Park and a Mediterranean Gull on Liberty island (in the snow!), but the Red Cardinal eluded us. I have loved it ever since it featured on a Pelmanism set we owned as children. I was never any good at the game, but I loved the images on the cards!

Time's a Passing....

The early morning was full of color as the sune was yet to be above the horizon. It has been cold and the sky adds to the feeling of winter...
