Wind Turbine Country.....

Driving through southern Iowa to get to Corning, Iowa we encountered the white moving statues. Iowa has over 6,000 wind turbines.  They are scattered in the southern rolling hills built in clusters by the hundreds.  The shot with the farm house and barn helps give your the perspective of the size of each one.

They remind me of a Disney cartoon where objects are turned into moving people.  Some think they are beautiful and yes they are. I find them to be spooky when they are in such large groups. It was not a windy day but on certain ridges they got breezes to cause them to turn in unison. I almost forgot to mention that the cheapest one cost 1.3 million dollars each.  I can't see that they break even on these except the taxpayers pick up a lot of he bills.

We were headed to a funeral visitation and on our return trip the sun was sitting and it helped get better shots. My wife was the photographer, using my cell phone, shooting from through the car window.
