They are native to Iowa. He seemed to be so big because we are use to seeing grackles and blackbirds. The blue shine is striking and moves around as the sun reflects off of him.

Beautiful crow, and he is really big. We have crows here in Montreal as well, but I have never seen one as big as this. The crows here are about the size of a seagull but I can't really say for sure, because I don't see crows and seagulls together.

Hi Larry, I just looked up some photos on the internet of crows and seagulls together. My estimation is correct, they are about the same size here.
