Maine Lighthouse

This was the last place we visited before we crawled into our rental car and started driving south to Portland, for our flight home. We went through some older towns on the island and saw a couple of old cemeteries that I wished we had time to photograph. My daughter in law doesn't know she was in the photo. The area was fenced in so one couldn't get a very creative shot of the lighthouse.

Very pretty against the blue sky. I love Maine because it combines the ocean and mountains, my two favorites!
Enjoy your day.

I have always enjoyed pictures of lighthouses. My daughter and family visited New England last fall and she send me pictures of the lighthouses they visited. When she was in California last fall she send me a picture of a lighthouse on the coast out there also. She always includes me in her vacations by sending me pictures of where they are and what they are doing. It's almost the same as being there, I just don't get so tired, I'm kind of a Lazyboy Chair vacationer. ; )

We have never been to the east coast. .I shouldn't say never..when I was a kid.. but that hardly counts, as I didn't have a camera with!

I would love to explore the lighthouses...

Larry,
Beautiful lighthouse --they are always so neat to look at--I always want to explore inside-- it would be so nice to live in one.

Lovely shot. Lighthouses are so different all over the world. I'm intrigued by the bells - are they an extra warning mechanism?

I was really interested by your comment on my blog about the different timing of the oat harvest on your grandfather's farm.

Love, love, love the lighthouses. This summer I have taken quite a few photos in Michigan, too. They are fabulous. Loved this one, too.
