I didn't cut this to the ground last fall and it seems very thick. I have read in Garden Design magazine that one should do it every year. Maybe this fall I will try it to see if it thickens out wider at the base.

Tall and Short....

Iowa wild rose is the state flower. I keep finding evidence of our hard freeze on different plants as they mature. The freeze messed up...

The red twigs make a unique photograph.
The redness of the wood makes it a striking photo.
The branches look as smooth and red as our Eastern strawberry tree.

"Some of my best friends" are Iowa farmers. I worked with them at Heifer Ranch (Heifer International) in Arkansas. Great folks.
Your Dogwood makes a really interesting picture. It's very pretty against the green of the grass.
