A rare beauty........


Black Swallowtail Butterfly

I don't think I have ever seen this butterfly in Iowa.  I may have seen him in butterfly collections but this is the one and only one that landed in my zinnia patch. Having photographed the yellow one early last week I was so surprised to see this one.
