Prehistoric fish or just a koi....

The koi is keeping warm in my basement aquarium.  He and my camera were not cooperating.  It is a special effects day for photos I guess.

The koi really does have metallic qualities as it is black and gold and the light reflects off of his scales.

Very cool images, he looks like he's been dipped in gold.

I like the special effects. I remember how the Coi always seemed to have a metallic look about it.

It looks like he is trapped under ice...neat effects!

I had a koi pond in Salem Oregon - one year the pond froze pretty thick but the koi were fine. I read their metabolism slows way, way down and as long as there is an air vent for off-gassing, they will survive. I gave two big fish away when I moved 10 years ago and one of those fish is still alive! It was HUGE back then.

The Capitol.....

A shot through a large window creates an unusual yet usual effect. The Iowa State Capital has new gold leaf on its dome.
