Cornerposts.................

A cornerpost , one of four, that accented the entrance to the carriage bridges on Mt. Desert Island, Maine.

The bridges were built in 1924 by European stone builders. They were brought here to construct them for Mr. Rockefeller, who at that time owned most all of the Mr. Desert Island.

Did you go for a ride in a carriage to see all the stone bridges? I think that would be something I would like to do..but I suppose they wouldn't stop for photos. Rockefeller was quite the guy..too bad they let vehicles on the island..just my opinion..I believe he wanted it kept auto free:)

Very interesting post and great photos Larry. I like Far Side's idea of riding in a carriage!

Interesting. I'd like to see a picture of the bridge itself. Is it as impressive as the cornerposts?
