Hyacinths to feed thy soul.......

If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,

And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,

Sell one, and with the dole

Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.

Hyacinths really do not bloon very well being raised outside in Iowa weather. We don't have big beautiful blooms as it doesn't get warm enough to nurture them. I planted them anyway and maybe just one year out of many I will get great hyacinths.

Frances, my 90 yr old neighbor, lives with her son/DIL and has a bed of pink and purple hyacinths. We have enjoyed them so much this spring. Wishing you both a restful weekend.

I adore the smell of hyacinths. I didn't realise they were so hardy.

Larry, the past couple of years, I got some hyacinths greatly discounted after the Easter holiday, mostly because they were dying and past their prime. I planted them outdoors and surprisingly (to me) they seem to rebloom each spring. Hope yours do too!
