The red admiral butterfly is blending into the multi-textured river birch tree. I haven't seen many butterflies this summer and this guy did stay still for me to photograph it. He is hard to see in this photograph as the darker part of the bark is its background.

Such an interesting photo. We haven't seen many butterflies this summer either.
Wow. That is well hidden. On the other hand we had tons of butterflies here this dry summer. One day at a local state partk I saw thousands of red admirals...:)
