The plants lacked enough water to continue and the fading flowers and trees are showing a quick decline. The coneflower still has a subtle beauty showing even when it is fading for the season.

I cut mine back today.
We never had any cone flowers rebloom after they died off a couple of years ago. That was unfortunate as the butterflies really enjoyed visiting.
