Surviving the Heat.........
The growing cycles of hollyhocks are hard to keep track of with out keeping notes on them. They grow a base set of leaves the first year and then the second year they shoot up a stalk filled with buds. I had no blooms last year so the hollyhocks must have used last summer to regroup their growth cycle.

Peony and Tulips....
The flowers are getting a gentle rain this morning. It makes the soil and sub soil happier as our drought is less these days.

Iowa wild rose is the state flower. I keep finding evidence of our hard freeze on different plants as they mature. The freeze messed up...

Beautiful! Holly hocks were always in our yards when I was a child. I should plant some just for the memories!
