Eat your Oatmeal.....
When I was a kid I lived in an old drafty house. In the winter I would get up in the morning and I would get a bowl of oatmeal in a bowl like this. I picked these bowls up at garage sales through the years. We have not need for dishes as we have too many sets so these set in the basement in a stack. We use to use them for dog water bowls. The bowls originated from old time cafes in Iowa. The dishware was very practical, heavy, and designed to keep food hot once it was dished up. They are called china ware by the companies that made them. Company names include Homer Laughlin and Shendingo. I have also cafe ware that has glazed pattern decorations on them but the plain white is a pleasing shape.

I am always on the lookout for bowls like these for the cats and dog. I like the Pyrex bowls for my oatmeal. I am always on the lookout for coffee mugs made in the USA too.
