Our collection of carved animals from Africa are back on display after Christmas was put away. When we started this collection we had to go to a special store that sold artistic pieces from different countries where the arts helped to supply the income for the people. I picked up the giraffe to see these were from Kenya after reading the babel. The cause helped out the artists with the majority of the profits going back to the creators.
The rhino peeks out from behind the lamp. On other piece is in our bedroom where it can be balanced between things as the bottom was not quite carved well enough for it to stand freely. I did research to find the company or cause that sold these but that apparently is long gone. I do see that some bad replicas from Kenya are not for sale but these really are a lot better pieces than the rough carved ones on sale today.

Love these carvings, so detailed.
I've been trying to comment on your main blog Larry, but unfortunately I am repeatedly getting a page saying it has been blocked because it's a dangerous site. Do you know anything else I can do to leave a comment ?
Jo
