As a poor kid on the farm we always had a beat-up cedar tree for our Christmas tree. The cedars grew in the ditches and rarely were green. We did have some ornaments that were bright and shiny and contrasted so much to that brown scratchy cedar tree. The lights were too few and the ornaments were minimal in number but each colorful ornament was a joy to see. I can buy high priced replicas of these Shiny Brites now and they still give me such joy.
