The trip to the lake may give us a chance to see mallard ducks. Our neighbor's pool is visited almost daily by this pair so we don't even have to visit the lake shore. Even though suburbia grew into their territory they seem to have stayed around. I saw a photo on the net of mallards taking care of their young ones in a child's wading pool in our town. It would fun to have a fish pool and have them visit.

It seems the ducks got bored of rivers and lakes, so they chose the pool for a change. I'm glad you got to see them.
