I have four different ones to different trains. The trains I use to see as a kid while waiting for our car to cross always had a caboose. Sometimes one would see a hobo riding on the top of one of the cars. There were no ways to communicate with the back of the train except for flags that would signal a message. The windows above the caboose allowed the person to see up towards the front of the train.

I remember the red caboose, Larry. I sometimes see commuter trains and trains carrying various items such as cars, food, etc. here in Montreal, but I don't see any caboose.
