Pine Cones.......
My blue spruce is putting out cones at the top of the tree. I have seen every kind of bird in the tree. I know that a pair of house finches did raise a batch of babies among the branches. Those young ones frequent the seed sock learning how to feed at it. One young one spent a long time trying to see if he could get seed out of the knot at the top of the sock. I suspect that there are a lot of insects on the evergreen and that is one of the draws for the birds.

Teddy's legs are a little short for this big wheel but he still likes sitting on it. These shots were buried in my files and this one...

Iowa wild rose is the state flower. I keep finding evidence of our hard freeze on different plants as they mature. The freeze messed up...

The tree and cones are lovely! How nice to have a safe place for the birds.
That are a lot of cones! haha. Our birds love to nest in the evergreens...nice and save in there!
Looks the blue spruce is birds favourite tree and could keep birds warm and secure with dense branched... Love the cones
Our birds would love that tree, as do I!
