Light Box Shine....

While working with my light box I pulled glass items together for a still-life shot.  I was frustrated as I couldn't find all of my lanterns. Later I did find two more of them.

Later in the day I looked up at the kitchen clock and there sat my one lost antique light on the right.  When America did not have electricity the lamps would be lighted for the evenings until everyone went to bed.  My grandparents did not have electricity for years so these lamps could be found in their closets and basements in storage when they were not needed anymore. I bought three of them at garage sales.  The one at the top photo on the left was my Grandmother's on my dad's side. It was brought home to one of our sheds on the farm when we closed down her house back in 1957.

Very beautiful objects! I have four small kerosene lamps and two beautiful electrified "gone with the wind" for bedside tables.
I also have old objects that came to me from my Grandparents, an Empire lamp that I restored and an old grocer's scale, my Grandfather's parents were grocers in Normandy, I have the weights in cast iron and those in brass. I had also repainted this scale and black-polished the large cast iron weights.
