An Adventure.......

We took a trip over to the Saylorville Lake area to see if we could spot any bald eagles.  As you can see these are not them.  We have never had seagulls in Iowa until this lake was built thirty some years ago. I suppose there were gulls along the two rivers on the sides of the state.  As a young boy a stray gull might fly by in southern Iowa but it would create quite an uproar of excitement in the whole neighborhood.  We would also see a stray pelican once ever ten years and that was like having alien visiting from Mars.

This shot was taken at the overflow site below the dam.  The lake was filled to its normal level from snow melt but its normal is not a very high level in this lake.  The overflow water was a very small amount of  water coming through the spout.

This is a great photo, Larry.
I hope you and your wife have a nice Easter weekend.

The Capitol.....

A shot through a large window creates an unusual yet usual effect. The Iowa State Capital has new gold leaf on its dome.
