The temperatures were mild and it was late afternoon. A few butterflies showed up on the zinnia flowers trying to get some need nectar. The inside view of the butterfly is wonderful but I didn't get a chance to see or photograph that view. The painted lady butterfly eats with its wings closed.
A bonus photo day shows a photographers failed attempt to get a good shot of the monarch. The sun was bright and I really couldn't see in my viewfinder of my cell phone what I was shooting. Clipped the wings and didn't point high enough to get it in to the shot.
